IE hangs - same problem
Don't know what happened but as of this morning, I cannot send mail. The send button depresses when clicked but no action takes place - message just gets moved to drafts. I have tried dragging the message from drafts to outbox and then doing a send/recieve. That does not work either although I do receive email.

Hotmail problem!!
nothing and yet during these periods of inactivity outlook express will send/recieve (from more than one mail box) perfectly OK Opening another window of is not sending during these pauses. I subsequently tried a 'keep awake' programme to avail. I believe I have tried all fixes on the MSN knowledge base.

OE stopped by Instant Messanger
When I log on to MSN it will tell me if I have mail and bring it down onto the communicate desktop, but when I try to get it the system opens the internet mail program. If I click on send/recieve it goes off into never never land until it comes back saying "could not connect with server etc. etc. etc.

Not so sure whether this is what POP3 in GWIA suppose to work. As you mentioned SMTP relay is required for POP3 send/recieve to work and that did not apply to may case. Just wonder whether this is because the switch is not working or it is not necessay. The testing enviroment is using GW 5.2 without patch.
